Besides the sensational views, the observation wings beside the bridge deck can also be used for increased maneuverability. Built with high-tech composites, the oval shape of the three superstructures on this Lady is the first obvious upgrade. This was also the year in which Moran passed away peacefully at his home in Florida, but not before leaving a legacy of philanthropic acts and stunning seafaring vessels like the final Gallant Lady. Shortly before Jim Moran turned 88, the final Gallant Lady was launched. The final Lady being an oval shaped marvel with a somewhat more ‘aggressive’ look, typical of the styling at the time it was constructed. Between the years of 19 several Gallant Lady yachts with similar elegant lines and classic interiors were created for the Morans, with every new yacht an improvement on its predecessor. Jim was in charge of the exterior of each yacht while Jan took care of the interior design. The couple made an excellent team effort when it came to the complexities of boat design and construction. From that moment on, for over five decades the Morans commissioned nautical vessels to be made by some of the top names in the industry, including as many as seven Feadship yachts. It was a 19-foot long Chris-Craft, and he was immediately hooked. Jim Moran bought his first boat in the 40s.
